Selection Of Site For Steam Power Plant-2020

In industrial or industrial factories, capital is either for profit. At which corner a plan is to be adopted before setting up the organization. The more accurate the plan, the higher the profit will be on the organization. Again, there is a high risk of capital loss in the wrong plan. Therefore, with proper planning, profit or profit is inherently involved.

It costs billions to set up a power plant. But if this power plant was built in the wrong place, the center could be completely destroyed or inaccessible. In addition to the selection of the place depends on the cost, management cost, stability and profitability of the organization. Therefore, selecting the right place or area for setting up a power plant is the most important thing. However, all types of power plants at the same location may not be suitable or compatible in all directions for generating electricity. Therefore, different conditions or aspects are taken into consideration when a selection of site for steam power plant

Today we will discuss the conditions that are taken into consideration when selecting a suitable location or area for a steam power plant or a Steam Power Plant.

Conditions For Selection Of Site For Steam Power Plant

In selecting a suitable area for a steam power plant, the following conditions are to be considered:

  1. Supply of fuel
  2. Transport and communication facilities
  3. Soil Strength
  4. Water supply facilities
  5. Availability of Laborers
  6. Availability of Equipment parts
  7. Industrial and Commercial areas
  8. Market facilities
  9. Distance from the populated area

Supply of Fuel

Since steam is usually used as the main fuel for power generation, other plants are also used for various plant functions, so this center should be set up near coal mining and stored in other fuel bases as needed. It will be very convenient to transport fuel. But if such areas do not have the opportunity to set up a power plant, then the area should be selected for installation where there are adequate transportation facilities throughout the year.

Transport and Communication Facilities

A large amount of coal or fuel is required for a steam power plant. Apart from this, the employees working in the procurement of spare parts, boilers and powerhouses have to travel to different places for different tasks. It is logical to set up a high power steam power station where there are facilities for transit to land, waterways, and airports. In this way, the production of power plants can be kept normal by collecting coal, spare parts, crude oil, etc. from a distance or abroad by ship.

Again, transportation of coal, crude oil, parts, etc. from anywhere within the country can be easily transported by rail and road. Apart from this, it is necessary to have facilities for broadband, internet, telephone, post office, courier, etc. for exchanging urgent information. If the communication and transportation system is not good, it is never possible to set up and operate a power plant. For this, the power plant should be set up at a place where the transportation and maintenance system is good, or communication and transportation should be ensured at the site before the power plant can be started.

Soil Strength

Due to the excess capacity of the steam power plant, the accumulation of more units causes the ground to vibrate so the ground must be solid enough to build the powerhouse, boiler house, etc. of the steam power plant. A steam power plant should never be installed in moist or damp soil. This is because the power plant can slowly sit underneath the ground or crumble.

Water Supply Facilities

Compared to other power plants, steam power plants require water. Because of the boiler feedwater, the cooling water, the staff at the plant, there is a need for water for the laborers and plenty of water for the different types of fishing. Therefore, such power plants should be set up in or near the banks of the river, as there are large ponds, reservoirs, and water throughout the year. Otherwise, a power plant will not be able to run for long, depending on the water supplied to the pipe from a distance. However, the staff can always rely on the local city or its own pump water supply for regular drinking water.

Availability of Laborers

Different types of workers and employees are required for the operation and maintenance of various functions of the power plant. Therefore, it should be placed in a place where all kinds of workers and employees will be available at a low cost. As the spare parts of the plant and other control machinery are relatively high, it is necessary to employ more skilled workers in the plant. Also, if there is an abundance of skilled manpower, efficiently skilled craftsmen should be procured from them, which will help to carry out the production.

Availability of Equipment parts

Naturally, during the work of the plant, various parts of the plant begin to decay with friction and at one time any valuable part of the plant may be broken or damaged. In this case, it is important to have the facilities available in the surrounding garage, hardware store or transportation.

Industrial and Commercial areas

Steam power plants are generally large in size and their power generation capacity is also high. The larger the power supply line, the greater the cost of installation – repair costs, maintenance costs, and power dissipation in the line. If there is a large number of industrial establishments, commercial establishments in or near the plant for the use of electricity generated from the plant, then the cost of electricity supply and distribution will be much lower, so that the consumers can use the electricity at a lower cost. Therefore, it is logical to set up a steam power plant in such an area as there are industrial and commercial establishments.

Market Facility

Steam power plants are generally large in size and their power generation capacity is also high. The larger the power supply line, the greater the cost of installation – repair costs, maintenance costs, and power dissipation in the line. If there is a large number of industrial establishments, commercial establishments in or near the plant for the use of electricity generated from the plant, then the cost of electricity supply and distribution will be much lower, so that the consumers can use the electricity at a lower cost. Therefore, it is logical to set up a steam power plant in such an area as there are industrial and commercial establishments…

Distance from the populated area

A large amount of coal is burned at the steam power plant, causing constant smoke from the plant. And this smoke severely pollutes the surrounding area. Therefore, setting up a steam power station around populated areas, hospitals and educational institutions should not be a problem at all.

Conclusion

Setting up a steam power plant will not provide all the above facilities. So where there is an abundance of water and fuel which should be chosen some distance away from populated areas. In this case, an area adjacent to the river should be selected where there is sufficient water all year, there is no pollution to the atmosphere and there is the arrangement for transporting fuel. Perhaps this could be an ideal choice for setting up a steam power plant.
