Although the present civilization is the product of the pursuit and hard work of scientists and technologists, our social science is failing to provide the necessary incentives to maintain the continuity of the pursuit, to encourage science workers to sleepless nights and hard pursuits. In this article, I emphasize the need to popularize science and technology through the media to young people or society as a whole. This will encourage young people skilled in scientific activities to learn science; And through science and technology, an environment will be created to sustain the development of our civilization.

Science: Science is the method of observing, testing, verifying, systematizing, statutory and researching all the physical things in the world which is the center of creating and organizing knowledge. The English word science comes from the Latin word Scientia, which means knowledge. In Bengali, the word science means special knowledge. As a result of continuous observation and research, a person who is involved in extensive and specialized knowledge of a subject is known as a scientist, scientist or scientist.

Engineering: Those who study engineering are called engineers. Engineers design new things and they make things. Many engineers do research to solve some problems. There are different types of engineering. Engineering is learned from college or university.

What is the Difference Between Science and Technology?

The differences between science and technology can be summarized in the following ways:

  1. Science is more or less research in a particular branch, physics, chemistry or biology. The technology is called applied science.
  2. While science is involved in observation and research, technology is also involved in innovation and production.
  3. Although science is the subject of all analyzes, technology is more concerned with the synthesis of design.
  4. All technology depends on science. But science is a fundamental thing.
  5. Science is the knowledge of how all things happen in nature. And what helps us in our daily work is technology.

Technology related to that field when it comes to improvement as a result of scientific research. For example, advances in energy research have led to the development of energy and solar panel technology used to generate energy.

In the case of science and technology it is important to remember that they go hand in hand. This is why most of the time they are used together.

Importance and Benefits of Modern Technology:

The benefits of using modern technology have had a positive effect on every level of human civilization. Proof of which is to achieve greater excellence and development in all spheres of life starting from social, financial, communication to the past.

Importance of Science in Society:

In 1955, at the National Academy of Sciences, scientist Richard Feynman spoke about the importance of science in society. The words are equally true today.

Occasionally I hear that scientists should think a little more about social problems. In particular, society should be responsible for the impact of scientific discovery. Other scientists like me may have heard this. The idea is that once scientists give up their minor problems and start dealing with the serious problems of society, unprecedented success awaits them.

It is not that we scientists do not bother about these problems at all. But I never get stuck. There are several reasons for this. First of all, we don’t know any magic spell that will solve the problem if we worry about it. Second, social problems are much more complex than scientific problems. Every time an attempt was made to bring them into the bag, it did not go very far.

I think there is no difference between a scientist and a boy next door when he thinks about unscientific problems. They both deal with their confidence as they choose to embark on their play activities. Since the question of the importance of science in society is not a scientific question at all, I may prove my point by saying something about it.

When we put scientific creation to good use, it also introduces our values. Scientific knowledge can be both good and bad, but science does not give instructions on how to use it. Properly exercising his power will benefit the society but misuse can also do the opposite.

It is a problem of mankind. Once upon a time in Honolulu, I learned a way to address this problem. In a Buddhist temple, the principal was giving a little introduction to the passengers about Buddhism. At the end he said that he was going to say something that no one will ever forget. I did not forget. There is a proverb in Buddhism:

“Everyone has the key to heaven, but that key also opens the door to hell.”

So what is the benefit of getting the key to heaven? There are benefits. Although it is dangerous to use that key if you do not know which is the door of heaven, which is hell, so the value of the key cannot be denied. If not, how can I enter heaven?

No matter the direction, nothing will happen without the key. So even though the ultimate defeat of the society has come at the hands of science, it cannot be thrown away because there is a possibility of doing at least something at the hands of science.

Another contribution of science is the opportunity for brain training. Some people enjoy reading science, learning from it, or thinking about it. Again, some people find that joy by practicing science by hand. But this matter of brainstorming cannot be laughed off. But those who ask scientists to be more aware of the social impact of science, I do not see much to think about this aspect.

Does this personal satisfaction have any value for the whole society? Absolutely not. But here we have to think about why the society needs it. After all, isn’t society a complex arrangement for everyone’s personal enjoyment? If so, the joy of science is no less than the five enjoyable things.

But this is not the end. I do not want to hide the view that mankind has made as a result of scientific efforts. Today we can easily think of what the ancient poets or visionaries could not have imagined. We have seen how insignificant our imagination is to nature. Wondering which is more surprising: a tortoise swimming in a shallow sea, an elephant on top of it, we have 1 on its back, or we are stuck with a sphere that has been spinning for millions of years due to some unknown attraction, still half hanging down?

I have thought a lot about this alone. Speaking of those thoughts, I may be repeating the words that you must have thought. Think about it because you know the information that people in the past did not have.

Suppose this is the case, when I go to the beach, I stand there and start thinking.

The waves flowing in front, the mountains of molecules, which are intoxicated with their own work, are completely separated from each other, while all together they are forming a single white foam.

Over the years, when no vision has touched him, in his own flow of time he has come ashore and crashed just as he does today. For whom, for what? On a dead planet where the possibility of life is uncertain.

Non-stop, energy driven, cherished by the sun, this creation in the middle of zero. This roar of the sea across the point.

The same molecules are arranged in layers in the ocean floor, from which new complex molecules are formed. Gradually they make more molecules in their own shape, a new dance begins.

Gradually increases in volume, complexity. When it comes to the vibration of life, the mound of atoms, DNA, proteins, dance crafts are more subtle.

They come ashore to crawl. Standing on two legs, the bag of conscious atoms matches the curious sight.

At last they stand on the shore of the sea, amazed by their own wonder, one of them is me, the world is made up of atoms but there is only one atom in the middle of the universe.

The Flash of Ideas:

However, the newspaper writes: “Such and such a scientist said that this discovery could be useful in the treatment of cancer.” These papers are as much about the use of an idea as it is about the idea. That’s what he’s actually saying, almost no one notices. Except for a few students. If a student can come up with such an idea as a child, then a scientist is created there. No matter what I say, watching TV is playing twelve of these thoughts, these ideas just melt through the gaps in the brain. Even in a smoky state, children can master its essence, and that’s when you get a future scientist. It’s too late to come to university, so you have to explain these ideas to them from an early age.

This time I want to talk about another contribution of science. It’s a bit indirect but not too much. Ignorance, doubt and uncertainty, a scientist is very familiar with these three conditions. I think this is very important. When a scientist does not know the answer, he is ignorant, when he gets a hint of an answer, he is uncertain, and when he is quite sure of the answer, he still has doubts in his mind. We scientists understand that in order to move forward, we have to acknowledge this ignorance, we have to keep room for this doubt. In the same way, not everything that is said in today’s established science can be equally convincing. Some are quite uncertain, some are almost certain, but none are out of the question.

We have become accustomed to this uncertainty. We have assumed that it is possible to move without knowing everything for sure, there is no contradiction in this. But I don’t know if everyone understands it. We have this freedom of doubt since the early days of science when we had to contend equally with the authorities. He had a big deep struggle. I don’t want anything else, I just want to ask questions, I want to get out of this certainty. We should not forget the struggle of that day. Then what I have achieved, I may lose. So that it does not happen, that is our responsibility towards the society.

When I think about how much potential there is in people and what they have actually been able to do, I get upset. I think again and again how much more I could do. People of the past would find hope for the future in their nightmares. We are their future. Their hopes have been dashed from time to time, but most of them remain dreams. The lion’s share of what we are hoping for today is what we had hoped for in the past.
